A Registered Agent acts as the official point of contact between your company and the state. Their role is to receive and forward important documents such as: - Official correspondence from the IRS - Legal notices and service of process - Compliance-related documents and state filings By designating a Registered Agent, you also protect your personal information from becoming part of the public record. --- ### Who can be a Registered Agent? The service can be provided either by an individual or a professional company, but certain requirements must be met: - **Physical address in the state** where the company is registered (P.O. boxes are not allowed). - **Availability during business hours** (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to receive documents. - **Knowledge of state obligations** to ensure deadlines and compliance requirements are communicated to the company. --- ### Important Limitations The Registered Agent’s address is strictly for receiving official documents on behalf of the company.
