Can my ITIN application be rejected by the IRS?

But don’t worry! In most cases, before rejecting an application, the IRS will send a letter requesting any missing information, such as name, address, or passport details. You’ll have enough time to provide the requested documents so the process can continue smoothly.

In rarer cases, the IRS may reject the application outright if essential information is missing—for example, a missing signature.
