# DBA Process

## DBA stands for “Doing Business As”, which refers to a trade name used by a business.

**Registering a DBA is optional, but it allows you to:**

- Issue invoices
- Open a bank account
- Write checks
- Sign contracts

—all under a name different from your company’s legal registration name.

#### **Example**

Suppose your company is registered as **ABC, LLC**. If you want to launch a website or product under the name **XYZ** but continue processing payments under **ABC, LLC**, you do **not** need to register a DBA.

However, if you want to conduct transactions directly under the name **XYZ**, then you **must** register a DBA.

#### **How to Register**

3. Select **“Register a DBA.”**
