Why does my stock already have a Par Value?

Every corporation is required to assign a par value to each share of stock it issues.

This par value serves as a legal and accounting reference point, even though it doesn’t necessarily reflect the actual market price of the shares.

Later on, the corporation may issue additional stock certificates at different prices, as long as the official records—such as the Minutes of Meeting and the Stock Ledger—are updated accordingly.

That’s why your shares already have a predetermined par value.
